Ward System
On July 22, 2009 City Council adopted an electoral system dividing 
Edmonton into 12 wards, each represented by a single Councillor. This system came into effect with the 2010 municipal election.
The Mayor is elected by a city-wide vote. Citizens are free to contact any Councillor in the city with questions or concerns.
Edmonton Public School Board
There are nine Edmonton Public School Board wards. Slight changes to the boundaries of Wards F and H came into effect with the 2010 municipal election.
Edmonton Catholic Separate School District
An additional ward was added to the Edmonton Catholic Separate School District. The new seven ward system came into effect with the 2010 municipal election.
